SCHOOLS

It may be possible to arrange an impartial school talk on taking a gap year, which does not favour any one company.  A returned 'gapper' will normally attend.  If gapadvice.org cannot deliver the presentation, then  the same impartial presentation will be delivered by a reputable gap year organisation.  Again, please contact: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. • What is a gap year?
•  When can you take a gap year?
• Why take a gap year?
• Reasons not to take a gap year
• What do others think? eg UCAS and AGR
• Applying to university
• Researching your gap year
• What can you do? eg volunteer, earn money, a course, travel
• Where can you go?
• How best to travel?
• Key questions to ask yourself and others
• What does it cost?
• How to raise the money
• Issues about gap years eg regulation, DIY, ethical issues, safety, codes of practice
• .. and when you get home….!

CONTRIBUTION

We ask for a £75 contribution for delivering/arranging the talk.  

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

If a talk is required, the school/college/university should provide the equipment and facilities for a Microsoft Office 2003 PowerPoint presentation, the computer, data projector and screen to be set up by the school 20 minutes before the talk begins.  The presentation should be able to be loaded onto the school's computer through a CD and USB key.  Some presenters may have a short film presentation as well, so sound may be required, with DVD capability.
